In the summer of 2028, Los Angeles will welcome the Summer Olympic Games for a historic third time, following its memorable turns in 1932 and 1984. The massive LA28 footprint includes 36 Olympic and 23 Paralympic sports spread across 24 unique competition zones. The grand Opening Ceremony will kick off on July 14, 2028, with the Closing Ceremony wrapping up the festivities on July 30, 2028.

New sports at the 2028 Olympic Games

The Olympics to come will feature a few new sports, while some of the most beloved disciplines will be back, striking a perfect balance between the newest worldwide trends and the old American sporting tradition.

The following sports will be returning:

• Lacrosse (returning for the first time since 1948)
• Baseball and Softball (making a welcome return after Tokyo 2020)

When are tickets to the LA28 Olympic Games available for purchase by the public?

Now that the first April 2026 ticket launch is wrapped up, organizers just went live with Drop 2. You’ll need to get your name into the random ticket draw on their website by July 22, 2026, if you want a fair shot at buying them. Randomly selected fans will receive designated buying time slots in early August.

Can residents buy LA28 tickets early?

While the exclusive LA and OKC Locals Presale window for selected California and Oklahoma counties took place in early April 2026, regional fans have another early opportunity right now. Those who register before the July 22 deadline can opt-in to a dedicated Visa Presale Draw taking place from July 29–31, 2026, utilizing Visa as the payment partner of the Games.
